Can I offer a special discount for new clients?

Yes. Classta has three ways to do this:

  1. A first-session special price on a class (automatic for people who have never booked that class)
  2. A free trial on a class (a separate £0 option for new customers)
  3. A discount coupon they enter at checkout (useful for ads, referrals, or a one-off campaign)

You can use more than one of these. They work slightly differently, so pick the option that matches how you want to attract new people.

Option 1: First-session special price

This is the simplest “intro offer.” Eligible customers see a lower Single class price the first time they book that class. After that, they pay your normal single price.

Packages, bundles, and memberships are not affected.

How to turn it on

  1. Go to Classes in your admin dashboard
  2. Create a class or edit an existing one
  3. Open the Pricing tab
  4. Make sure Allow single bookings is on
  5. Tick Offer a first-session special price
  6. Enter the first-session price (for example £5.00)
  7. Save the class

The first-session price should be lower than your normal single class price.

What customers see

  • People who have not booked this class before see the special price as the Single class option, with the regular price crossed out and a First session label
  • Your calendar can also show a First session badge
  • After they have booked this class, they see the normal single price

If they book more than one date in one checkout (and you allow that), only the first date uses the special price. Extra dates are charged at the normal single price.

Who counts as “new”

A customer is eligible if they have never had a confirmed booking for that class, with that email.

  • Cancelled or pending bookings do not count
  • A different email is treated as a different customer
  • Booking a different class of yours does not use up this offer
  • This does not apply to bookings you create yourself in admin

If you also use Limit to one single class booking per customer, they still get the intro price on their first single booking, and they still cannot buy a second single for that class.

Option 2: Free trial

Use this if you want the first visit to be free, not just cheaper.

How to turn it on

  1. Go to Classes
  2. Create or edit a class
  3. Open Pricing
  4. With Allow single bookings on, tick Offer a free trial class to new customers
  5. Save the class

New customers who have not booked that class before will see a separate free trial option at £0. Regular single bookings stay at your normal price.

Extra free-trial controls

In Settings you can also:

  • Allow only one free trial class per customer — they can only use one free trial across all of your classes that have the trial switched on
  • Exclude emails from free trial — useful if someone already had a taster with you elsewhere (for example on Calendly)

Those extra limits apply to free trials only. They do not apply to the first-session special price.

You can turn both on for the same class: new customers can choose the free trial, or book a paid single at the first-session price.

Option 3: Discount coupons

Use a coupon when you want a code people can share, put in an ad, or send in an email. Coupons are not automatic — the customer enters the code at checkout.

How to create one

  1. Go to Promotions in your admin dashboard
  2. Click Create Promotion
  3. Choose Discount Coupon
  4. Set a percentage off (for example 20%) or a fixed amount off (for example £5)
  5. Choose the coupon code customers will type in
  6. Optionally set how many times it can be used, and an expiry date
  7. Save it

Customers enter the code during checkout to get the discount.

Coupons are a good fit for:

  • “NEWCLIENT” on a flyer or Instagram bio
  • A limited-time campaign
  • A referral or intro offer you only send to certain people

They are not limited to first-time customers unless you keep the code private or set a low usage limit. If you need the discount to apply automatically the first time someone books a class, use the first-session price or free trial instead.
